ANTI-WRINKLE NEUROTOXIN INJECTIONS

Wrinkle-relaxing injections containing Botulinum Toxin or neurotoxin - known more commonly as BoTox - are perhaps the most widely known treatments in the anti-ageing field.

Precise, anatomical placement and dosing means that Botox can deliver harmonious, natural results that compliment your expressions and personal features.

  • These injections work by targeting the muscles of facial expression. As a result, the muscles relax and exert less of an effect on the overlying skin. This helps to prevent repeated creasing of the skin, allowing for a gentle relaxation of those strong, expressive lines.

In people who have already developed a mild etching of these facial expression lines (known as ‘static lines’), the use of neurotoxin can help to improve and soften their appearance, and help to slow down progression into deeper lines.

In those with highly expressive facial muscles, where the lines are currently only visible on movement (known as ‘dynamic lines’), the use of neurotoxin can have a preventative effect on the development of facial wrinkles.

Multiple areas are suitable for neurotoxin treatment and these include the frown area, forehead and the side of the eyes (crow’s feet area).

It can also be used to relax the downward pull of our lower face and neck muscles, resulting in a more rested and lifted appearance.

  • You will undergo a thorough consultation in clinic to determine the most suitable treatment regimen for you.

Treatment involves a series of small injections to the target muscle which are over in a matter of minutes. Patients find that they are able to then continue their day as normal with no restrictions.

It takes around 3 days before the effect of the treatment starts to become apparent and it is on average at its maximal effect at around 2 weeks. If at that point you feel like you would like a bit of a stronger effect then we would be delighted to administer a complimentary top-up (within 2-4 weeks). Similarly if your movement feels a little bit tight or heavy initially, then rest assured that after the 2nd week everything just settles into a natural result.

  • It is recommended that you avoid exercise or excessive straining for 24hours post treatment, as well as avoiding excessive heat or rubbing and pressure to the area. It is also advisable to avoid use of make-up over the puncture sites for a minimum of 6 hours.

Toxin effects tend to last around 3-4 months on average and so to maintain the optimal results it is recommended to keep your treatments regular.

Anti-wrinkle injections are not suitable for anyone under the age of 21, patients who are breast-feeding or pregnant and those with a known history of neuromuscular disorders.
