EXCESSIVE SWEATING/ HYPERHIDROSIS TREATMENTS
Injections containing Botulinum Toxin - known more commonly as BoTox - are perhaps the most widely known treatments in the anti-ageing field.
However, they are also excellent treatment options for a range of other troublesome conditions, including hyperhidrosis, a condition characterised by excessive sweating.
-
Botox injections can be administered to areas which are affected by excessive sweating such as the under-arms, palms, soles of the feet or scalp.
In these areas, the injections work by targeting the nerves supplying the tiny sweat glands under the skin, thus causing reduced sweat gland activity and therefore resulting in a significant reduction of sweat and moisture production.
In the context of hyperhidrosis, BoTox is effective in improving symptoms in localised areas, but is not suitable for a generalised hyperhidrosis disorder.

You will undergo a thorough consultation in clinic in order to determine whether the treatment is suitable and beneficial for you.
Treatment involves multiple tiny injections to the affected areas, which are over in a matter of minutes. Numbing cream can be applied beforehand for comfort. Patients find that they are able to then continue their day as normal, with no restrictions.
It takes around 7 days before the effect of the treatment starts to become apparent and usually you are able to really appreciate the effects of treatment by around 2 weeks.
If at this point you feel like you would like a bit of a stronger effect then we would be delighted to administer a top-up (within 2-4 weeks).

It is recommended that you avoid exercise or excessive straining for 24hours post treatment, as well as avoiding excessive heat or rubbing and pressure to the area. It is also advisable to avoid use of deodorant over the puncture sites for 24 hours as this may sting. Localised swelling or bruising to the area is normal but tend to settle within a day or two.
Bo-Tox effects tend to last around 3-4 months on average and so to maintain the optimal results it is recommended to keep your treatments regular.
Neurotoxin injections for excess sweating are not suitable for anyone under the age of 18, patients who are breast-feeding or pregnant and those with a known history of neuromuscular disorders.
