What Are Polynucleotide Treatments?
Polynucleotides are an exciting and wonderfully versatile injectable treatment that have been gaining increasing popularity in recent years and have now become one of the most popular and loved treatments offered in the clinic.
Polynucleotides are advanced injectable treatments designed to rejuvenate the skin from within. Derived from highly purified salmon or trout DNA fragments, they work by stimulating the skin's natural regenerative processes, enhancing collagen and elastin production and promoting deep hydration.
This leads to improved skin texture, elasticity, and a youthful glow.
How Do Polynucleotide Treatments Work?
Once injected, polynucleotides activate fibroblasts, the cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin. This stimulation enhances the skin's structural integrity, improves elasticity and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Additionally, polynucleotides possess anti-inflammatory properties and promote tissue regeneration, making them effective for scar reduction and overall skin rejuvenation.
Their cellular benefits do not end there though: polynucleotide injections can also stimulate the production of growth factors and stem cells that are important elements in skin regeneration. These molecules can promote the growth of new blood vessels (a process known as angiogenesis), enhance the production of collagen and elastin, and increase the thickness and elasticity of the skin.
Furthermore the nucleotide molecules have the ability to attract and retain water, leading to increased skin hydration, which in turn manifests as improved plumpness and texture and a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles.
A further mechanism of action whereby polynucleotides promote skin health is through their ability to scavenge free radicals, therefore making them powerful antioxidants.
What Areas Can Be Treated with Polynucleotides?
Polynucleotide treatments are versatile and can be applied to various areas, including:
Face (including under-eye area)
Neck
Décolletage
Hands
Scalp (to support hair growth)
They are particularly effective for addressing concerns such as fine lines, skin laxity, dullness and signs of aging in these areas.
Polynucleotides are suitable for all healthy patients with no contra-indications above the age of 21. They are not suitable for patients who are breast-feeding or pregnant.
What to Expect from Treatment
You will undergo a thorough consultation in clinic in order to determine whether the treatment is suitable and beneficial for you.
Polynucleotides can be administered either as a series of micro-injections using a fine needle (mesotherapy technique), through use of a fine cannula or through a combination of the 2 techniques.
There is a little bit of short lived associated stinging but numbing cream can be used to alleviate the discomfort
Patients can typically resume normal activities immediately
You will be aware of small little bumps under the skin that resemble mosquito bites and in undereye treatments there may be some puffiness and bruising for 3-5 days
Results are gradual and progressive, with optimal skin improvement observed after the second session.
· It is recommended that you have 2-3 sessions at 4-6 weeks apart for best results.
